Our Story

In 2003, we took a chance on a new farming venture, growing apples.  Ron bought the orchard and began his experiment in joining the local food revolution.  Today, Ron continues to manage the orchard as it was when he took over, but he has also made a number of additions.

Since 2003, we have added more Honeycrisp.  We have also started growing the newest apple from the University of Minnesota, the Sweet Tango.  This year we added some grapes as well.

It's been a bittersweet adventure.  Since 2003, there have been good years, and there have been bad years. Through all the pruning, cutting grass, allowing the deer their share, hail, drought, and untimely frost, we have endured.  We have battled through the tough years to make it to the next good year.

What makes it all worth while is when someone takes their first bite of a sun-ripened locally grown apple and lights up in surprise at the gush of that sweet apple juice.  There is nothing like picking an apple right from the tree, giving it a quick polish on the shirt, taking a bite, and declaring, "They're ready."

Meet Ron, his patrol dogs Trixie and Buddy, and our orchard
